The agency acted swiftly on a reference from the government in Bihar, the home state of 34-year-old Rajput, where his family had lodged an FIR against Chakraborty.
BJP official spokesperson Nikhil Anand alleged that the proof and evidence related to the case are being destroyed and tampered with. "An absurd article was written in Saamna by Shiv Sena in which Rajput's fans, his family, Bihar Police and Bihar Government were insulted. It is clear that Shiv Sena leaders are afraid of CBI investigation and they are nervous about it," he said.
Rhea, who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on Tuesday after three days of questioning, is currently in judicial custody.
'The investigation is at preliminary stage, therefore, from the available record, it can not be said that there are no reasonable grounds to connect the accused (Rhea) (to the case),' the court observed. The court also said there is possibility of the accused tampering with evidence if released on bail.
